Sewing Inspiration for your Nutmeg Trench and Jacket

Nutmeg Trench and Jacket inspiration

Hi stitchers!

We are here to share with you some inspiration for your Nutmeg Trench and Jacket sewing pattern. This time we have worked with two amazing testers who have made each one of the versions of Nutmeg and trying on both size ranges. Apart from this, we have also added a bit of high-street inspiration at the end of the post that we hope you will also enjoy and that will help you choose your favourite version and fabric! :)

Are you ready for some seriously amazing sewing inspiration? Let’s start!

Inspiration from our tester Rebecca

Rebecca is a super talented maker based in London, UK, with a distintive style (follow her on Instagram to see all the amazing garments she always makes @revansmerritt). Here you can see the version she made of the trench using an oilskin fabric from Merchant and Mills in green. She wanted to give it a more structred feeling and it looks absolutely fantastic!

Rebecca opted for the version with bow-cuffs, no belt and a simple collar without the ruffle. She also added both the patch and the side seam pockets.

The garment on both versions, jacket and trench, comes withouth lining -making it easier for beginners. The seams can be finished with a zigzag stitch, overlocker or with our preferred method, bias binding. Rebecca has used this cute lilac tape and it looks perfect combined with the green fabric.

How cute both Rebecca and her version of Nutmeg are? We are totally in love here at CocoWawa's HQ.

And last, a close-up of the super cute cuffs (obvs.) that are finished with a bow. This is optional as you can go for normal cuffs as well.

Inspiration from the high-street

Wear the trench version without a belt on top of a jumpsuit and making the colours sing.

Green is one of the colours on trend this Autumn. What about a quilted version of the jacket?

I think we can all agree that a lilac trench is just mandatory on your handmade wardrobe :)

Another quilted version of the jacket in this light blue.

A more traditional version of the popular trench shilouette, but paired up with a super casual look.

Or you can go all-in and make one out of a quilt (or do the whole process from scratch).

And last, another classic trench look but on a much more modern blue / grey fabric.
