Meet the Raspberry Jumpsuit sewing pattern, Playsuit and Dress

New jumpsuit and dress pattern for beginners

This time we are happy to introduce Raspberry, a beautiful easy-to-sew jumpsuit sewing pattern with a playsuit and dress options, perfect for the Summer months. The shirred bodice on the three versions is exactly the same. The change comes with a long and comfy loose trouser option, a short one and also a skirt.

The design features three different straps: one with delicate bows, another with a lovely ruffle and a third one, with a round or D shape ring detail.

Further more, Raspberry is easy to fit and the perfect pattern to up your game thanks to the fun shirring technique which you can learn following our YouTube tutorial.

There’s also an optional concealed zip for those who might prefer it and side seam and patch pockets are also included. Straps and pockets are all interchangeable.

With lots of detailed instructions, technical drawings and tips to get the best results when shirring, Raspberry will become a staple in your handmade wardrobe!

The first version I share here is the jumpsuit with comfy, loose cropped trousers. I chose this beautiful linen from The Fabric Store in this amazing orange burnt linen colour!

This version comes with back patch pockets (although you can add inseam pockets as well if you want) and an original detail on the straps using some decorative rings (these are usually used for backpacks and accessories, so check on those sections when buying them.)

Perfect Summer dress

I think next version is going to be one of your favourite! You can't beat a Summer dress WITH! bows and a shirred bodice, right? :) I used this beautiful polka dot cotton sateen Japanese fabric produced by nani IRO and sold at Meter Meter.

I think this version screams Italian Summer strolling through Positano (and not really for a living room shot hehe, but you get the idea :) ). The length of the dress is kind of midi (between knee and ankle), but you can of course make it shorter as some of our testers have done.

The more time consuming part of the dress (or any of the versions) is the bodice, but the rest? you can make it in a day! Super quick and very satisfying. Also, your shirring finished will depend a lot on the type of fabric you go for. Lightweight fabrics are the best! Go for cotton sateen, light linen, rayon, viscose...

A fun playsuit

This last one is also very sweet! A playsuit / romper (you just need to cut along the line marked on the long trouser version for the jumpsuit) with the option of ruffles along the straps (which you can use for any of the other versions!).

I chose this beautiful lilac linen from Minerva Crafts. I think this will work out so well for hot days in the city, picnics during the weekend and of course, for holidays near the beach and the sea.

Hope you like this new CocoWawa pattern. I have put a lot of work and love into it! and here you can see where I found my first inspiration for it. One of my Mum's best friends who sadly passed away many years ago used to make me this type of shirred / smocked dresses when I was little :)
